BACONALIA: A Holiday Celebrating Bacon?
Did George Constanza’s Dad come up with this one too? He must be the new marketing director for Denny’s. I don’t eat at Denny’s regularly (maybe once a decade if we’re on a big multi-family road trip) so I heard this commercial on the radio this morning. 7 meals featuring nature’s greatest food product: bacon. The one that really piqued my interest? The Maple Bacon Sundae: Vanilla ice cream topped with maple syrup topping and strips of bacon.
Now due to some minor health issues I’ve pretty much cut bacon out of my diet along with menu items from most of the major fast food chains. I do make occasional exceptions (a turkey bacon sandwich at Big G’s, our local deli, is a must), but for the most part I stay away from it. I am strongly considering making an exception for this.
So back to the radio, the commercial featuring the aforementioned special edition dessert, complete with voice-over guy purring over the airwaves at the very mention of nature’s perfect food, ended. What commercial directly followed this one? Lipitor. Not kidding.
