Time for reflection

Ten years ago, at 8:46 in the morning, the lives of all Americans changed forever.  We witnessed an attack by terrorist forces in New York, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.   A combined total of 2,977 lives were lost at these sites and each and every day we mourn their losses.  The 19 attackers are not included in that total because they don’t deserve to be mentioned with the innocent men, women, and children that were lost.  They will remain nameless and faceless because I choose to remember the people that matter, those in the Towers, Pentagon, and on the planes.

Last year, I was lucky enough to travel to NY with my wife, my younger brother Keith, and his wife Elaine.  We were given the opportunity to stay at the Millenium Hilton on the 55th floor.  Each day from sun up until midnight, workers pushed on tirelessly on the grounds that once held the towers.

Now just a year later, most work has been complete and the city of New York has a place, not to mourn but to help move forward.  This will stand as a reminder that in the face of terrible, terrible attacks, we stood strong as a nation and fought together.

To those who doubt our resolve or question our beliefs, the attacks were not just against us.  In 2005, London was also attacked by Islamic terrorists.  These are not focused just against Americans but all those who hold freedom as their flag.

And to the conspiracy theorists who attack each move by the US government during this time, fuck off.  To believe that our government had a hand in this or to question how President Bush handled himself is taking away from all the innocent Americans that died.

Now we all must move forward.  Ten years later, it still seems so fresh.  Watching some of the ceremony brought back the same feelings of sadness and anger.  So each and every day we must make sure to tell the important people we love them, both by words and by actions.  To our allies such as Great Britain, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and others who showed such support, we thank you.  Mankind must use this event to grow and change.

On days like today, I am lucky to live in the greatest country in the world.  The United States of America, while struggling through a murky recession, fighting on Capitol Hill, unemployment up the ass, and the debt total rising, shows that during times of trouble, all that is put aside to focus on our neighbors in all 50 states.  We are Americans, we are one, and we are strong.  God Bless America.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Maybe I am just hoping against hope, but I am pretty excited about this movie.  I know the past has not been kind to this series, especially Tim Burton, but this has major potential.  Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.

Memorial Day

I would like to thank all of the veterans, both past and present, for the service you provide for our country.  America has been built by the blood and sweat of those who fight for our freedom and we need to recognize their sacrifice more than once or twice a year.

Craig and Dad

Big Pimpin’

Who brought the pimp to the party?  Now where is his cane and bitches?

HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY CRAIG

Craig, Craig, Craig…now the shoe is on the other foot.  I have decided to post several pictures for the readers, just so you all get a feeling of who this blog hero is.  He is but a man, not someone you look up to for your comic and movie posts.  So I want you to enjoy these pictures and understand there are worse ones out there.  Craig was smart enough to wipe those out of history, kind of like the Stalin of Derosby Brothers.

In all seriousness, I want to wish my older brother a very happy birthday.  I am very lucky to have two great brothers whom I have traveled with and killed zombies with (more on that later my loyal readers).

So to Craig, that crazy Son of a bitch…HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Daddy and Baby Monster Hunters is on Facebook

Clever promotional campaign or innocent mistake.

If this is a mistake, it is the most kick-ass mistake I have seen in awhile.  If it is promotional, then it is quite clever.  This was somewhere in the UK and the cable company, Clear Channel, took it down after a bit of razzing.

Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Round 2

Since I so proudly posted making it past the first round of cuts, I thought it would be just as appropriate to let our many, MANY readers that I did not make it through to the final 50o.  I will not give reasons why I did not or bitch about it because that takes away from those who did make it.  I was very happy to make it past the initial round and will be able to use that small point in my queries.  I am also working on finding an agent and my story is currently with a really good one.  Keep your fingers crossed.
